Farmers State Bank was recently named a Top 10 Best Places to Work in Illinois by the Daily Herald Suburban Business and a Top Five Community Bank in America by The Institute of Extraordinary Banking™.

The Institute of Extraordinary Banking hosts their Extraordinary Banking Awards annually to highlight the vital yet often overlooked role that local community banks play in our nation’s economy.

All community banks in the country (over 4,500) are eligible to be nominated and evaluated in five distinct categories: philanthropy, customer service, thought leadership, workplace culture, and financial literacy education. Being recognized as a Top Five Community Bank in America represents remarkable performance in each of these categories.

Farmers State Bank has previously been recognized with similar accolades. In 2019, they were named a winner of the Thought Leader Banky® Award across all sizes of community banks, as well as a category winner in the Less than $300 Million Asset Class. In 2017, 2018, and 2021, they were awarded the Institute’s Overall Excellence Banky™ Award.

Additionally, companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Illinois. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics, as well as an anonymous employee survey to measure employee experience.

About the Best Places to Work Awards Program

The Best Places to Work Awards Program highlights the top employers in Illinois. Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Illinois. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company's workplace policies, practices, and demographics, and was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience and was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Illinois and analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings.
